A proposed demolition of a parking garage at 1980 Ford Rd. in Cleveland’s University Circle area is already causing negative impacts in the area — and the garage hasn’t been razed yet. But officials at University Circle Inc. (UCI) which owns the 54-year-old garage are hoping that a new parking deck to be built in its place will help boost the neighborhood.

Lakewood, CASTO reveal hospital site plans
Details of a $90 million proposed development of the city-owned Lakewood Hospital site were announced today by Lakewood Mayor Meghan George. The plan and the terms of the city’s draft agreement with a development team led by Columbus-based CASTO Communities now go to City Council for its review and possible approval. If approved “soon,” city officials said construction could start by the end of this year.
Demolitions to start for Clinic’s largest building
Cleveland Clinic is requesting a demolition permit from the city to make way for the largest building ever to be constructed by the global health care system. The permit requested from the Cleveland Building and Housing Department would allow the Clinic to raze its Surgery Center and adjacent parking garage, at 2083 E. 89th St. at Carnegie Avenue.

Luxury car biz may park at Great Northern Mall
A Canadian luxury auto dealer hopes to consolidate its local dealerships, service center, Ohio offices and hundreds of jobs at a new $60 million development at Great Northern Mall in North Olmsted. While there’s still a few steps to go through before the project is a reality, the dealer has already acquired the property in this western Cleveland suburb necessary to carry it out, according to public records and sources familiar with the project.
Amazon back in the mix in Slavic Village
Amazon is reportedly pivoting to a new site for a distribution center on the southeast side of the city yet would remain in Slavic Village, according to two sources familiar with the project. The e-commerce giant will apparently be the anchor for a new warehouse development reported exclusively by NEOtrans on a 40-acre site that could grow further if additional properties around the fringes are added to it.
