In the weeks preceding Sherwin-Williams’ ceremonial ribbon cutting May 11 for its new 36-story headquarters tower in Downtown Cleveland, the company’s executives took notice. They could see how employees were filling out its new HQ campus and, in suburban Brecksville, its new Morikis Global Technology Center.

The oldest planned shopping center in Ohio, Cleveland’s Shaker Square, is set to see a major redesign in an effort to bring new activity to businesses and public spaces. Approved today by City Planning Commission, the Shaker Square Vision Plan follows a series of upgrades and store openings helping to revitalize the square.

Cleveland’s downtown may possess its historic core and central business district, but several massive developments are solidifying Greater University Circle’s status as one of the most important job centers in Northeast Ohio.

While Cleveland has been lauded for attracting investors to redevelop closed school buildings, things don’t always go as community officials hope. So unfortunately eight mostly historic school buildings are to be demolished, with three facing imminent demolition.

With hours to go before a July 30 deadline to settle its debts or lose its property in the wind-up to a potential Nov. 3 auction, the owner of 925 Euclid Ave. won a third option — an extended deadline.
