Studio West 117 campus plan grows

The largest development being contemplated so far in the Studio West 117
campus is a two-tower, mixed-use property with a health care facility and
LGBTQ+ senior housing at the current site of the closed NTB car repair
shop at Detroit and Coutant avenues in Lakewood. Although this basic
massing shows 190 parking spaces, the developer plans to increase it

What started out with two significant real estate purchases on either side of West 117th Street in Cleveland and Lakewood by a development partnership has since expanded to seven properties. And what was originally a $75 million vision for renovating the old Phantasy Theater complex called Studio West 117 has grown even further, developing into a multi-faceted LGBTQ+ supportive neighborhood.

Library Lofts construction starts

Two months before its official groundbreaking is scheduled to be held, construction work has started on the next new building in Cleveland that’s big enough to put another tower crane in the sky over booming University Circle.

Bridgeworks revised, spring start sought

A revised plan for Bridgeworks at the west end of the Detroit-Superior
Bridge at West 25th Street was submitted to the city for approval. A
slightly shorter and wider building along with additional demo-
litions of the former Cuyahoga County Engineer structures
could close the project’s financing gap (Mass/LDA).

Developers hope to start construction in spring of a high-rise in Cleveland’s Ohio City neighborhood despite missing out on a so-called megaprojects tax credit from the state earlier this month. The optimism is the result of a redesign of plans for Bridgeworks that would reduce the cost of the project by reducing the height of the building by 24 feet, virtually eliminating renovation costs while reshaping a proposed parking garage.

Ex-Lakewood Hospital site plan due in April

A mixed-use development planned by CASTO is proposed to be built
on the former Lakewood Hospital site with an announcement due
in a few weeks. That development will reportedly be anchored by
the offices for a growing, Lakewood-based health insurance firm.

Lakewood Mayor Meghan George’s office revealed today that an agreement for the redevelopment of the city’s ex-hospital site is being finalized and could be announced in April. There has been significant progress in negotiations with the ex-hospital site developer — so much so that a conceptual plan and development agreement between the city and a developer, CASTO, could be submitted to the public and City Council for review in less than a month.

Cleveland Vibrator site attracts new buyer

The former Cleveland Vibrator manufacturing plant in the Hingetown
section of Cleveland’s Ohio City neighborhood is on a path to transfer
to a new ownership group with deep pockets and a desire to develop
the site, probably with multi-family housing and ground-floor retail

Ownership of the former Cleveland Vibrator site, one of the few under-developed yet large properties in the booming Hingetown section of Cleveland’s Ohio City neighborhood, is set to transfer to a new ownership group as early as next month. The group is comprised of multiple heavy hitters in Greater Cleveland’s business community.

Tremont’s Fairfield facelift

More details are emerging about a proposed new apartment building at 1209 Fairfield Ave. in Tremont, to be called Driftwood. In addition to its inclusion of a ground-floor retail space and a larger lot, the development may be joined nearby by an expansion of the South Side Restaurant.

then dismantling it to learn what construction materials and techniques
they want to use in the new 616-foot-tall tower just west of Public

If you don’t know what you’re looking for, you could drive right past the new $300+ million Sherwin-Williams (SHW) headquarters tower and not even know it. I mean, who would expect Cleveland’s fourth-tallest skyscraper to suddenly appear out of nowhere at the dank and dusty corner of Scranton and Carter roads on Scranton Peninsula in the Flats?
