Lakewood Mayor Meghan George’s office revealed today that an agreement for the redevelopment of the city’s ex-hospital site is being finalized and could be announced in April. There has been significant progress in negotiations with the ex-hospital site developer — so much so that a conceptual plan and development agreement between the city and a developer, CASTO, could be submitted to the public and City Council for review in less than a month.

Cleveland Vibrator site attracts new buyer
Ownership of the former Cleveland Vibrator site, one of the few under-developed yet large properties in the booming Hingetown section of Cleveland’s Ohio City neighborhood, is set to transfer to a new ownership group as early as next month. The group is comprised of multiple heavy hitters in Greater Cleveland’s business community.

Tremont’s Fairfield facelift
More details are emerging about a proposed new apartment building at 1209 Fairfield Ave. in Tremont, to be called Driftwood. In addition to its inclusion of a ground-floor retail space and a larger lot, the development may be joined nearby by an expansion of the South Side Restaurant.

If you don’t know what you’re looking for, you could drive right past the new $300+ million Sherwin-Williams (SHW) headquarters tower and not even know it. I mean, who would expect Cleveland’s fourth-tallest skyscraper to suddenly appear out of nowhere at the dank and dusty corner of Scranton and Carter roads on Scranton Peninsula in the Flats?

Local megaprojects win, miss TMUD awards
Today, the five-member Ohio Tax Credit Authority board awarded $100 million in tax credits to Transformational Mixed Use Developments (TMUD) to 13 applicant projects throughout Ohio. Of the 42 projects statewide and nine from Greater Cleveland that were submitted for credits, four received a total of $53 million in funding.

Flats apartment project wins BZA nod
A proposed renovation of two historic, decayed buildings in the Flats cleared another hurdle yesterday when Cleveland’s Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) unanimously approved a variance from having to strictly adhere to parking requirements in the city’s building code.
