Fulton townhomes in Ohio City get OK

On the west side of Fulton Road near West 30th Street, a pair of townhomes are planned to fill

In Cleveland’s Ohio City neighborhood, plans to erect two townhomes on a historic stretch of Fulton Road are progressing. The townhomes would fill a gap between two early 20th-century structures where a gravel parking lot currently stands in front of a small single-family home.

Amazon may anchor airport biz park

at left would be the first one built specifically for a tenant with whom the developer says it has

A proposed light-industrial/warehouse development in Cleveland, off Rocky River Drive near Hopkins International Airport, has advanced quickly toward final approval by the city. Part of the reason why is that a major tenant will anchor the 650,000-square-foot, three-building project and wants to move forward.

The 123-year-old landmark Rockefeller Building in Downtown Cleveland hasn’t been treated
very well in recent years but its fortunes could be changing for the better very soon (NEOtrans).

Remedies are coming soon for a downtown landmark that has had too many dirty tricks played on it in recent years. But on this April Fool’s day, it appears the dirty tricks may have come to an end for the Rockefeller Building, 614 W. Superior Ave.

City gets new offer for Burke Airport

Top-fuel drag racing could come to the Downtown Cleveland’s lakefront thanks to a new
company Shore-to-Roar-to-Shore that responded to a request for qualifications from
Mayor Justin Bibb’s administration regarding the reuse of Burke Lakefront Air-

In response to a recent request for qualifications (RFQ), Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb’s administration has awarded Shore-to-Roar-to-Shore LLC a bid to repurpose the 450-acre, city-owned Burke Lakefront Airport as a drag strip for professional top-fuel dragster and funny-car racing.

Red Chimney restaurant to be razed

On Aug. 5, 2025, this smoky fire broke out in a second-floor apartment above the Red
Chimney Restaurant in Cleveland’s Slavic Village neighborhood. The building is
structurally but not economically salvageable, so it will be demolished before

If the beloved Red Chimney Restaurant was a luxury establishment in a vibrant, thriving neighborhood, the economics might favor its rebuilding following an Aug. 5, 2025 fire that was confined to a second-floor apartment at the back of the building where the blaze began.

Clinic’s trauma center plan gets $50M

The Cleveland Clinic Main Campus’ existing Emergency Department on Cedar Avenue
does not have trauma rating. The Clinic and the Mandel Foundation would like to

Cleveland Clinic’s Community Bridge to Care Initiative announced receiving a $50 million grant today from the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Supporting Foundation. That grant will, among other things, help the health care system expand its Emergency Department and possibly gain a Level I trauma rating at its Main Campus.

Commercial foreclosure business is booming

In Downtown Cleveland, multiple buildings in receivership can be seen from Euclid Avenue and
East 12th Street, starting with the reddish Statler Arms apartments. Not only is it in foreclosure,
but so is 925 Euclid at left and Reserve Square, seen in the distance at right. Recently, LIV
Cleveland, originally the Chesterfield Apartments next to Reserve Square, was in fore-

When a company expands in an already busy market, the inference is that the company expects the market to get even busier. Unfortunately, that may be the case with the commercial property market where foreclosures keep coming and more receivers are getting appointed by courts to hire real estate brokers.

The 50+ acres in play next to downtown, but few are talking about it

There’s a lot to unpack in this photo at East 24th Street and Central Avenue. First is the Nurses
Home arched doorway, a survivor from multiple demolitions of St. Vincent Charity Hospital,
leaving a vacant lot at far left. In the center beyond the fence are piles of rubble from another
demolition, that of the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Justice Center. And at far right is a corner
of the 22-acre Olde Cedar public housing and may be demolished, too. Downtown Cleveland

Mega-redevelopment sites are emerging all around Downtown Cleveland. There’s the 50-acre lakefront site that includes the to-be-demolished Huntington Bank Field. There’s the nearly 40-acre Bedrock Riverfront site. There’s the 62-acre ex-Lake Shore Power Plant site just east of downtown. And there’s the 450-acre site that now contains Burke Lakefront Airport.

ODOT approves funding for several Cuyahoga County projects

Road and rail construction in Cuyahoga County will benefit from state funding approved this
week by the Ohio Department of Transportation’s Transportation Review Advisory Council.
In 2020, the Opportunity Corridor Boulevard was getting built above while the light-rail
tracks of the Blue and Green Lines were getting rebuilt west of Shaker Square (GCRTA).

On Wednesday, the Ohio Department of Transportation’s (ODOT) Transportation Review Advisory Council (TRAC) released its latest list of construction commitments for transportation infrastructure throughout the state. Over $60 million is allocated to four projects in Cuyahoga county expected to begin construction within the year.

One of Cleveland’s oldest churches to close

Immaculate Conception Church, 4129 Superior Ave, opened its doors to a young, Irish immigrant-heavy parish in 1878 on Cleveland’s near-east side. But with later generations of its parish having fled to the suburbs over the ensuing decades, services at the early English Gothic structure are due to end May 24, 2026, possibly forever.

The City of Cleveland and the North Coast Waterfront Development Corporation (NCWDC) today released plan options and economic impact findings for a recreation-focused, low-density redevelopment concept for Burke Lakefront Airport.

Construction activity on Cleveland’s West Side is ramping up inside the Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) Zone — defined by the city as the land within a quarter mile (about a five-minute walk) of a high-frequency transit station. Developments within the zone are exempt from parking mandates, reducing construction costs and encouraging transit ridership.

GCRTA outlines proposed service cuts

Some changes are healthy, but the proposed service reductions to Greater Cleveland Re-
gional Transit Authority bus and rail routes may hurt some riders while forcing others to

Last fall, the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) warned that its worsening budget situation would mean some potentially significant service cuts starting this year. But at a GCRTA board meeting today, staff said they are making other budget cuts that would lessen those service reductions.

Ironwood Flats panned, fast-tracked

The design of Ironwood Flats was inspired by neighboring, historic houses in Cleveland’s
Slavic Village with gables and different colored sections to break up the massing of the

Despite Cleveland City Planning Commission calling the design for a proposed affordable senior housing development in Slavic Village as unoriginal and its location isolated from community amenities, it urged that the project be approved in an expedited manner.
