The Sisters never turned it into a health care facility. It was originally the site of the YWCA which included a gym (where I had physical education classes when I attended Lourdes Academy across the street at 3007 Franklin), and apartments for women. In 1960 the Sisters purchased the property which, until 1977, served as a residence for the Sisters teaching at Lourdes Academy then located at 4105 Bridge Ave.(I was one of them), Student Sisters attending area colleges, and some retired Sisters. The bulding never had dormitories, only individual bedrooms.
In 1977 the property was sold to Khourys (of Aristocrat Nursing Homes) and eventually to owners who established it as the present Vantage Place.

Sister Mary Hurley, HMMaryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06270310156368672846noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3674583748168404488.post-47076563793834804172018-10-25T11:01:33.134-04:002018-10-25T11:01:33.134-04:00I'm a reporter with News 5. How about a fund required to be paid into for those displaced when such a project is contemplated?jesta4justizhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12242802835380235265noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3674583748168404488.post-73592877819904989422018-10-22T08:25:19.548-04:002018-10-22T08:25:19.548-04:00No one needs this place more than a group of menta...No one needs this place more than a group of mentally disabled elderly people who have come to know the area as their own. The cycle of defunding and then cannibalism by development groups is reprehensible and deserving of litigation. Supremely shameful of OCI letting this kind of development happen rather than taking care of the people who already call the neighborhood home.
